Oil has stopped spilling from the remains of the Deepwater Horizon rig, which suffered a blowout, burned and collapsed in April. We can only pray that the spewing oil has been stopped for good.
However, 11 lives have been lost and more than 92 million gallons of oil have poured into the Gulf of Mexico, affecting the lives of all its residents, as well as the environment, for years to come.
As in most times of disaster, faith groups and people of faith were among the first responders, helping with not just physical but emotional needs as well.
Odyssey Networks took a film crew to Biloxi, Mississippi to document what is happening to people trying to adjust to yet another catastrophe to hit the area.
Rev. Shari Prestemon of the Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, MIss., called together faith group leaders in the area to discuss the oil spill from a perspective of faith. As you listen to the discussion, do you agree with Rev. Michelle Bailey that all of us are going to have to undergo a deep systemic change in how we look at life to find a solution to the issues raised by the oil spill? Read more about Biloxi.
