Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi

The Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi recently worked with Zen teacher, Dr. David Tetsunn Loy, and biologist, Dr. John Stanley, to draft “The Time to Act is Now: A Buddhist Declaration on Climate Change.”

It calls for a reconnection of the earth with its inhabitants and recognition of the urgency of action in addressing climate change to ensure human preservation. The Dalai Lama was the first to sign this declaration, and it will be presented at COP 15.

He currently resides at Chuang Yen Monastery and teaches there as well as at Bodhi Monastery. He is also the Chairman of Yin Shun Foundation and chairperson of Buddhist Global Relief, an inter-denominational organization of Buddhists dedicated to providing aid to those afflicted with poverty and hunger.

Bhikkhu Bodhi is an American Buddhist monk from New York City. He began his numerous contributions to Buddhist literature and thought as an editor and later president of the Buddhist Publication Society, and has since had many important publications to his credit.
