And the meek shall inherit the earth... To me this is the essence of meekness and humility, a fruit of the spirit that appears to be long lost among the loudest voices in Western Christianity. Submitted By: Cherie

Dear Joann, There were a number of ministers who were guests. Two names that come to mind immediately are the Rev. Susan Sparks and the Rev. August Gold. Are either of those the names you are looking for? If not, please use the Contact Us form (top menu) so we can correspond directly. Submitted By: Admin

If possible I start my day with a half mile walk up our gravel road which adjoins woodlands, corn or soy bean fields or pasture. I see turkeys, crawdads, geese, and the footprints of more secretive animals. As Spring moves through I smell locust blooms first and then the invasive honeysuckle which seemed to come north with the mockingbirds. Then I smell the old rose planted by my grandmother's generation or her mother's. It smells like the rosewater and glycerine cream from her bedroom. I can taste the garlic mustard let loose centuries ago from pioneer gardens. (continued) Submitted By: Susan Heitzman

(continued) Our woods are being encroached by the multiflora rose, another invasive that was deliberately planted by soil and water people in the 60s. Morning glories are winding their way up grasses. If corn gets planted morning glories will rise and shine with every hue; if beans come along they lie low for a year. You can't help notice how humankind impacts this lane--and it is hard to judge whether for good or ill. As the daisies and clover from the pastures open on the scene I can't help but hope my great-grandchildren will be able to see and smell something similar and appreciate it.
