Promoting an Interfaith Response to Climate Change

WHY THIS STORY IS IMPORTANT:
Establishing, building and sustaining a just peace is a central theme of the world's great faiths. Earth's rapidly changing climate is a growing threat to peace as conflicts over dwindling resources spread across the globe. Climate justice has become, and will remain, a key concern for faith communities at many levels throughout the world.
Religious leaders who went to Copenhagen, and the many more people of faith who have been — and are — mobilizing individuals and congregations around the world through organizations such as Interfaith Power & Light are working at many levels to sustain a religious response to climate change.
This includes putting faith into action at the personal and congregation level though more energy-efficient living, as well as organizing to promote government action.
While the Copenhagen Conference was perhaps the most high-profile event of the year, the work of people of faith on this issue continues to define this as a core faith concern with respect to peace, social justice, and the responsibility to care for creation.
Odyssey Networks resources from the Copenhagen Conference and beyond offer insights into some of the key issues for the faith leaders we have been privileged to follow.
