While the country watched as President Obama won a second-term in the White House on Tuesday, we continue to take a look at the role faith plays in political spheres. Burns Strider, the co-founder of the Eleison Group and The American Values Network, served as the director of faith outreach for Hillary Clinton during her 2008 campaign for the Democratic nomination for president. Strider also helped Rep. Nancy Pelosi form the U. S. House Democratic Faith Working Group and Rural Working Group. Strider, who became director of the group, says that doing faith outreach in the rubric of a political campaign is not about quoting the Bible, but making sure that faith voters know that candidates share their values.
