Embracing Faith and Music

Through their Gospel-style performances, recording artist Neshama Carlebach and The Green Pastures Baptist Church Choir are continuing the legacy of her late father, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, a prolific Jewish singer and songwriter. Their original compositions and unique collaboration illustrate the intersection of faith and music. “When I feel my own Judaism most, believe it or not, is when I’m singing with the Baptists”, says Neshama, “I don’t know that I would love my Judaism as much as I do without this experience of embracing people because we are God’s embodiment, all of us.”

This is what Reb Zalman calls "radical ecumenism." Not just talking about interfaith work, but deep collaboration between our faiths; not watering down our individual paths to G-d, but finding ways to harmonize our paths; to walk next to each other...and in the case of Neshamah and Green Pastures it is literally in harmony. This is an inspiring interview. Thank you Neshamah. Thank you Green Pastures! G-d bless you all! It's time for all of us to make music in our own ways! If we just knock, G-d will open the right door.

Amazing! It is such a joy to see the move of God! I can not wait to join the fellowship. My late wife was Jewish. I feel such a connection to their faith. Jesus was Jewish. The foundation that the Christian faith is built is the Hebrew Laws of the Old Testament. It is truly beautiful to se these two cultures join together in Praise to the one God, the spirit head of all life. Amen! Many God continue to order the steps of this great fellowship and anoint this ministry. Need me? Plz call!
