Sister Simone Campbell on Why ‘Nuns on the Bus’ Continues

Sister Simone Campbell, the executive director of NETWORK, a Catholic social justice lobby, explains how the “Nuns on the Bus” tour kept snowballing into more tours, even after its initial high-profile trip. “We came back on July 2 from our 15-day tour after 2,700 miles and we thought it was over,” Campbell said. “What happened almost immediately was people were saying ‘We need to do it here.’” She says that NETWORK has five rules if you want to launch a tour: You need at least one nun, you speak civilly, you don’t campaign for or against a specific person, you lift up the needs of poverty, and you stay in touch with the campaign.

You are doing amazing, very important, informative, creative, sacred work to help promote what is so needed to promote peace, justice, healthcare for all people. The divine feminine has the most creative, palatable ways of being that has greater possibility of being heard and accepted. You know how to promote dialogue and speaking the truth in love as to how the univese can and needs to be healed. I am so thankful and impressed by your creative, healthy, ways of going about doing God's sacred works.
The Christ spirit is very evident and present in and through each of you. Keep up the sacred work. I love your Nuns On The Bus signs.

I'm a Methodist but I love the Nuns on the Bus! You are speaking out for the very ones Jesus spoke out for: "the least of these". Throwing politics into the mix is just wrong. Jesus was inclusive and we as faithful children of God need to be inclusive as well. - Terry
